A tiny tale …

for Friday Fictioneers111

.

0My friend Rosey’s fellow flat-dwellers are a competitive lot, especially with their annual ‘light up your balcony’ event.  This Christmas, Rosey was determined hers would outshine the rest!

She proudly showed me the elaborate wiring system she’d created to power her mass of lights.  Actually, it was a bit of a tangled mess!

At eight o’clock, Fred from flat-four stood down in the street, wearing his Santa-suit.

‘Five-four-three-two-one … happy Christmas!’ he yelled.

A massive cheer went up as all the balconies came alive – except Rosey’s!  She flicked the switch … on-off-on-off … BANG!

Suddenly, the entire building was plunged into darkness!

Embarrassing or what?

My friend Rosey has asked me to wish you all an  ‘appy slappy Crimbo (her words, not mine) and thanks you for reading the stories I’ve been telling you about her over the past 12 years, even though she insists they are ficticious – well, mostly!

I have two neighbors who obviously tried to outdo each other with the lights. Looks like a freaking runway out there!

Such a fun and lively tale, Keith. Rosie will never run out of stories to tell. Happy Holidays. I’ve enjoyed your stories over 2021 and look forward to what you cook up for 2022.

Yep, looks like Rosey had help from my son-in-law. He gave up and bought a new set of Christmas lights. Merry Christmas to you and your kin.

Oh dear, Keith! Is this a true Rosey story or a made up one? Hard to tell sometimes. Made me smile. I’m snagging “merry Croakmas.” Loved it.

Shalom and Happy Christmas to you and yours,

    Rochelle

I have to say I was expecting this to happen! She wouldn’t be Rosey if it didn’t!

Hehehe, this did not come entirely unexpected, it’s so Rosey. Please keep writing about her, she’s such a gem.

I was worried that someone would be harmed. Well done, Keith. But shocking.

I’m sure her friends and neighbours came to the rescue, they are quite used to her antics by now!

I’m afraid poor Rosey will be getting another shock when the Management sends her the repair bill, including overtime. Have a great Christmas and don’t let her plug anything in at your place.

It won’t be the first christmas display to end in disaster – for others. Merry Christmas, Keith.

The phrases “Rosey” and “elaborate wiring system” just don’t bode well 🙂

How embarrassing to be the one who’s caused that. I think she should brace herself for a supplementary service charge that she’ll be paying off until next Christmas at least.
