A few words

The passage of time has been unkind to the garden, it’s become overgrown and the dilapidated fountain’s run dry.

Look, they’re still there among the dead leaves, the coins I threw into the water when I made a wish all those years ago.

What a fool I was to think it would come true, how stupid to wait all those years rather than move on.

I gather them up.  They are old, soiled and worthless now, a bit like me.

As I turn to walk away, I fling them back and  I’m sure I hear a splash;  it’s a sign so I’ll make my wish again and wait a little longer.

I like how he found his coins after all that time. I imagine they would have been covered with forest debris.

Love the picture used – gives your readers a heads up… kind of.
Your Six is beautiful in its poignancy, Keith. I opt for believing his wish will finally be granted 🙂

It’s amazing what you can do with Photoshop these days!

That hadn’t occurred to me but I see exactly where you’re coming from. Lost again, but I’ll win next time. Thanks for dropping by.

Great piece, Keith, about the propensity of humans to just keep on wishing. Perhaps you need to throw a few coins in Sarah N. Dipity’s pond to improve your chances. 🙂

    ‘I’m sure I hear a splash…’
I love how you convey the passage of time and the dying hope and then throw in that wee bit of temptation to keep hoping.
    Such is life.

Hopefully there is something in his future that will help him to not feel so worthless and with that new view of himself, he can make progress in making his wishes come true. Nicely written SSS and great photo!
