Six Sentences

for Six Sentence Stories where the given word is Grip.

As my muse was clearly unamused by this week’s word I’m doing something I try never to do, and rewritten a piece I wrote for 6SS back in 2017!

She sat in silent stillness reading her book as with every turn of the page the ghoulish story gripped and chilled her, more and more.

She shuddered and tugged her blanket tight around herself and tighter still.  So absorbed was she, she didn’t hear a creak as the front door opened, and was unaware of being watched from the gloom of the hallway.

He began to creep closer to her, closer and closer still, then without a sound reached across and flicked the switch plunging the room into darkness.

She gasped, and her book fell to the floor as he touched her hand.   She could feel the warmth of his breath on her ear, then he yelled …

                                       … BOO!

    the book she’s reading sounds gripping indeed. I love a book like that and wish I could write that way! GREat six.

    Glad you chose to rewrite one of your previous pieces. Totally enjoyable for your readers, but maybe not so much for your character who was so rudely interrupted. Well done.
