Some snaps …

for Wordless Wednesday and others.

.

Chartwell House in South East England was for over forty years the home of wartime Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. He bought the property in September 1922 and lived there until shortly before his death in January 1965.

I went for a look last Thursday!

Lucky you. I had found a tour two years ago that visited many of the estates in England. This was one of them. Unfortunately, I never made it…

Beautiful photos! What a lovely estate. I love the studio pics, too! Ha, the cigar and the whiskey right next to the palette. 🌷

Beautiful place. I saw glimpses of this in the 2nd season of the crown.

What a gorgeous spot. You can see the history, so to speak. Nice framing on some of the shots too. Lovely work.

Such lovely grounds and home. He was living large for sure. I would love to see this in person. I didn’t know he painted though.

Thank you for hosting the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop. Mine won’t go live until midnight tonight.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday, Keith. 🙂

Painting was an escape for him. I have to say the pictures aren’t to my taste though! Cheers, Sandee.

Oh, the verdant landscapes and colorful flowers. I want to sit in that chair by the pond and read, walk across the bridge and breathe in the fresh air. Thanks for sharing the panoramic views, Keith. Was it peaceful there as you walked around?.

That’s just what I did Gail. Being the school holidays it wasn’t as peaceful as it might have been!

The place is really dense with the greenery around and looks well preserved seeing it’s from early 19th century. And, I love how we’ll you’ve captured the images.

    Happy #wordlesswednesday

Beautiful and vibrant photos. For some reason we have never visited Chartwell House. We stayed near Hayward’s Heath two years ago (it may be three, I lose track) so really there is no excuse for not having visited.

Tut-tut! You really should have! I’ve lived an hours drive away for most of my life and it’s the first time I’ve been there!

Hi Keith – I hadn’t realised he’d lived there for 40+ years … stunning photos you’ve given us. I must make a plan to get up there … but on your type of day -not the one I went to Standen … c’est la vie in England. Cheers Hilary

It’s worth the drive Hilary! Unfortunately, you can’t book in advance to gain entry to the house, you take pot luck. When I got there the tickets had all been handed out. Not that It spoilt my fabulous day!
