“Wake up Gilbert, it’s blowing a gale out there,” said Gertrude as their mobile home shook sending a vase of flowers crashing to the floor. “So much for the lie-in we were looking forward to”.

Gilbert sat up, rubbed his bleary eyes and dragged back the curtain.

“More like a tornado Gert, I’d swear I just saw a tree blow past. There goes another, and a road sign!”

The shack shuddered and swayed.

“I said we should have bought a proper house” grumbled Gertrude.

 

The truck driver’s phone rang.

“You idiot” shouted his boss. “You were supposed to collect mobile thirty-seven, not twenty-seven!”

    Hilarious. Did not see thst coming. Unfortunately the two tornadoes I’ve experienced were not hilarious at all.

    Love the ending twist! With several RTM builders in our area, on our little highway we see houses go past frequently — but none of them with occupants. 🙂

    LOL. You’re the master of misdirection and had me thinking of tornadoes and whatnot. This was not a good day for the benighted couple, but then again, what if they’ve been relocated free of charge to a Mediterranean beach?! Happy ending!

    Hi Keith – funny – poor old Gilbert and Gertrude … I wonder what happens next?! A good story to have up one’s sleeve! Cheers, seems less windy, today – Hilary
    PS – carpet gardens are over … and the mix of colours wasn’t brilliant – that little pocket sang out to me … so give it another 3 – 4 weeks I’d suggest … but always there …

    It is good to know that Gilbert and Gertrude are deep sleepers, although waking up when your house has gone for a tour along the road might spoil breakfast. What about the paper delivery and the post, how could they possible start the day with the Daily Standard to read.

    Ha, that’s a good one well done.
    Something like happened to me. My now husband our dogs and I were staying temporarily in a truck camper that was on blocks in a friend’s back yard. It had been sold but not picked up by the new owner yet. I woke thinking there was an earthquake.
