Greetings onlooker. I am Chris the Custodian.
I’m not perched above Rio de Janeiro and I’m five feet tall not ninety-eight, but here I stand, protecting the crops that feed our nation.
Crows respect me, and ravens treat me with deference. Seagulls poop on me, but in a reverential way.
Come storm or tempest I stand firm. Today, the sun embraces me. Should the weather change, I’m unconcerned. Actually, I could do with a shower to wash off this dust!
Feel free to take a selfie with me, the left is my best side. Then shove off and leave me in peace.
.
Thanks to Rochelle for hosting and Sandra Crook for the picture which immediately made me think of the statue Christ the Redeemer in Rio!

Pleased to meet you Chris. Seems like a charming fellow, for a scarecrow.

Dear Keith,
How does one poop with reverence? Never mind. Not sure I want to know. You’ve taken the scarecrow to a new level you clever writer.
Shalom,
Rochelle

“Seagulls poop on me, but in a reverential way.” had me laughing. I’ve never thought of it before, but I wonder if anyone takes the time to wash the seagull poop off Christ the Redeemer.

Love the point of view. Many seagulls have pooped on me, whether reverentially or not I’m not so sure 🙂
