A short story …

for Friday Fictioneers

I’d love to be a spy!  I’d sit in a cafe reading a newspaper with a hole in it to peep through.

I could disguise myself with a false beard and moustache and carry a big magnifying glass.  I could even dress as a woman!

I’d pretend to be a window cleaner and peer into people’s rooms, make phone calls with a handkerchief over the mouthpiece and put on funny accents.  I’d have a camera in my collar and a recorder in my hat.

One day I’d be a delivery driver, another a repairman.

But it’ll never happen.  Fun to imagine though!

A delightful dream! And no need for disguise–my friends tell me that a senior can go everywhere incognito ’cause no one ever really sees you.
But when I see your clever little frog adaptations, I really think you should be a cartoonist. They don’t get captured and tortured and dumped in a shark-infested bay like spies do.

A very good point Christine! Don’t worry, I make sure my frogs come to no harm!

Ooh, it’s such a fun story. But though it’s fun, being a spy that is, you can risk your life 😉

When I was visiting Vienna several years ago I got to speaking with another American tourist. Her husband had been in the US diplomatic corps in some South American country and she was recruited to ‘snoop’ when she was with the wives of the South American diplomats. You know, kids playing on the swings and moms chit chatting. Sounds like your kinda dame, lol.

To be honest, you only need a pair of glasses for disguise – it works for Superman and Wonder Woman! 🙂

You could do all that stuff without being a spy… It may get you into some bother though! 😉

Why not? So many possibilities when you let your mind go!

God’s greatest gift to humans is the capacity to love. The second greatest is imagination. Fun story, Keith.

Your world should be concerned for its privacy if your imagination ever comes true 🙂

From what I hear you already peer rather too much into people’s rooms!
    Naughty step for you, Keith

Great fun the imagination here, a sort of schoolboy dream, perhaps. Or else you have been watching too many Peter Seller film.

I watch a lot, and I mean a LOT of the old Mission: Impossible series. I have the first four years and some episodes I remember from childhood. I feel the same way myself. Maybe that’s why you write! Good stuff, Keith! Nicely done. Five out of five IMF’s.

Great take on the prompt! I believe we have all dreamt of spying on people, whether total strangers or people we know. I am glad not too many act on their fantasies though.

It looks like he’s thought it all out but needs a little confidence.
At least, he’s having fun imagining all of it.
I enjoyed this tale, Keith. Have a great weekend.
