A few pictures I took in a nearby wood.

I wrote this back in 2008
Bluebells chime
with vivid colour
Blossom falls
like soft pink snow
on a fragile carpet
of nodding cowslips
A new sound echoes
at days dawn
A choir of songbirds
sings their song
An overture to
the opera of summer
The first act has begun
I recorded it too. It may not work where you are, we’ll see! Be warned, it sometimes goes pop half way through – don’t be alarmed!

Such a beautiful color. I love it near the water! I live in Omaha, Nebraska. Kind of bland color wise, for flowers anyway.

They only flower for a few weeks, but they certainly are lovely.

You’re welcome. Right now the back field is full of dandelions, first food after forsythia for the bees here.

How lovely to be able to go out and see such beautiful flowers. Right now I can only go down 50 metres both sides of my house and see only bare streets. 😦

Our restrictions are not as limiting as yours. We re allowed out ‘for exercise’ once a day and fortunately this wood is very close by. If I had a magic wand I’d transport you here for a few minutes!

Absolutely AMAZING colors! Taking notes now on people I want to stop by because unfortunately my memory isn’t as it once was… nor is my hearing so typing is doing a whole lot better for me. hahaha Loving your photos. Your minds eye is as sharp as a tack as they say! Thank you ever so much for sharing. Have a wonderful day and please be healthy, be safe, and just “BE”! HUGS

You wrote that, I love it, very well done and I usually don’t have the patience for poetry. Did you write that while among the bluebells? They really are a happy flower.

No, I wrote it sitting here! I am a reluctant poet. I don’t enjoy writing it at all, mainly because it’s bound up with rules and regulations! I’m too much of a free spirit to stick to rigid formats. And yes, they are happy flowers indeed!

Beautiful! It reminds me of the bluebell woods near where I used to live as a child. Then they built the Expressway from the east edge of Plymouth to link to the Tamar Bridge and Cornwall and cut down the lot!

Keith, such delightful pictures. You sure are back with a bang!
I’m not too sure if I’ve seen bluebells. Maybe as a kid in UK, but I’m guessing they don’t grow around New Castle.
Is this forest closer to your home?
Have a delightful week ahead!

I’m pleased you liked them, Natasha! Yes, these were taken very close to where I live, but they grow everywhere, even on grass banks beside roads. Did you live in the UK as a child?
