Here are today’s X words:-
Xenizating – travelling as a stranger
Xenodocheionologist –. one who has a love of hotels
Xavier – male name meaning owner of a house
I know a chap called Xavier who is a total xenodocheionologist. Odd fellow. He spends several months a year xenizating all over the country in a car towing a large trailer. Wherever he stays at a hotel he gives a false name and address. He says he values his anonymity but I can’t help thinking there is another reason.
You should see his house. There are a couple of bathrooms stocked to the ceiling with little pots of shampoo and shower gel, wall-mounted hairdryers and beautiful soft towels.
As for the bedrooms, they each have several luxurious dressing gowns, heaps of slippers, quite a few kettles, masses of coffee sachets and even trouser presses. Two actually have fully stocked mini-bars! There are televisions in every corner and the pillows are covered with chocolates!
If it was mine, I would never want to leave it. It’s better than any hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

Keith, you don’t mean to tell me there isn’t a term for people who pilfer items out of hotel room? Good story!

There probably is! I wonder….!

Yes quite the little pilferer . But I do love staying in hotels … makes a great change from doing housework!

That’s a very good reason that hadn’t occurred to me! Thanks, Unishta.

That’s a lot of things to take care of. He may not want to keep cleaning it up!

Plus he worries they may get over and keeps stocking more. Hence the visits☺️☺️

He’ll have to build an extension on his house soon! Cheers, Sonia.

He’ll be using all his stolen supplies these days for sure. What with the lock down and all–he now has good reason to carry on doing what he’s been doing once things get back to normal! Ah! the irony of it all.

He probably had a premonition about the lockdown coming and got started early! Thanks, Arti.

I have a friend, has millions of dollars, but takes everything she can out of hotels we have stayed at. It’s embarrassing. To me. Not her. And thanks for the definitions. I had no idea that was what Xavier meant.

One of my favourite Friends episodes was the one when Chandler and Ross stole everything from their hotel room and their suitcases burst open in the lobby! Cheers, Denise.

I spy with my little eye….something and everything at Xavier’s house 🙂
Though I am a xenodocheionologist who loves to xenizating, thankfully I am no Xavier!

I’m like you, though I admit to taking the odd pot of shampoo occasionally!

No wonder he doesn’t want to give his real name! I’m doubting his love for hotels, you know. 😉

Ha ha ha ha…there are indeed people who do all these. I loved the whole structure of this post. It creates a curiosity and ends with a comic relief.

So I am a Xenodocheionologist as I love staying in hotels but unlike Xavier not as a stranger. LOL 😀

I’ve traveled the world on my own and prefer it that way so I’m definitely a xenizator! Cheers Shilpa.

This reminds me of the joke: the mother told her son to pack up everything he could find: towels, stationery, etc. A few minutes later he asked if he should take the batteries from the TV remote, too. 🙂
One woman who came into our charity shop had a reputation for stealing anything she could get her hands on; even priced at 25c, she’s snitch it. As you say at the beginning, “I know a fellow…” Eventually everybody around you knows and passes on that info. “When X comes to your place, hide everything removable and watch him at all times because…”

Great jokes, thanks for them, Christine! Confession time – I once took the batteries from a hotel tv remote because I needed some for my camera!

As a Xenodocheionologist, Xavier ensured that he took full advantage of his stays! No wonder he travels very often. But I wonder when he’ll have the time to actually use his stolen supplies!
