Today’s weird words!
Wildered – went astray
Ween – think or suppose, be of the opinion
Whence – from what place
Whereagainst – against which
Whitherward – toward what or which place
Whereout – out of which
Wanion – ill-luck, misfortune
Just fifty minutes until my job interview. I mustn’t be late. I checked the address on the letter and set off. Five minutes later I wildered and became totally lost.
I asked a passing priest for help. “Walk witherward St Peter’s church, turn left and it’s on your right,” he said. I thanked him, crossed myself and trotted off. Five minutes later I was lost again.
I spotted a chap on a bench swigging from a can of beer and asked him for directions. “Walk to the Flying Fish, hic, from whence you turn right, hic, and it’s there” he slurred. Five minutes later… you guessed!
I stopped a little old lady. ”See the retirement home?” she squeaked, “turn left there, left, and left again and I ween you’ll see it”. Five minutes later I was back where I started!
Whereagainst all odds, I eventually made it and got the job!
On the way back I donated some cash to a retirement home, said a prayer of thanks in St Peter’s church whereout I popped to the Flying Fish for a celebratory drink.
Twenty minutes later I stepped outside, tripped, and had the wanion to fall flat on my face.
“Can you direct me to the emergency department?” I asked a passing stranger.

Wow! So many weird words to choose from today. I’m going to miss this feature when the month is over!
I’m glad the poor guy finally got the job. Now he can afford to take a taxi whithersoever he wishes. Wildering like that, he risks a thug waylaying and waddying him.

Hmmm, maybe his mind is on too many old words for him to watch his step or keep his directions straight. Fun words today, i agree i am going to miss learning new ones each day.

Is there such a thing as a word wonk? BTW, yesterday the Scrabble computer used the word ‘ekpwele’. Made me think of you.

Will definitely miss your stories once the month is up. But I’m glad April is coming to an end. Hoping for an end to our lockdown too.

I must admit I’m looking forward to getting back to the writing groups I had to sideline this month. As for the lockdown…expletive deleted!
