The letter N has proved the most problematic of the entire month when seeking obsolete words on which to base a yarn! I just have one!
Naupathia – Seasickness
This was not a good idea. I should not have been talked into it.
Last year she wanted us to go on a cruise. Barbados, Jamaica. No way, I said. I’ll fly there but I’m not going on a boat.
The thing is, I suffer from naupathia. Admittedly it’s only reared it’s ugly green head once and that was on a cross-channel ferry. But it was horrible and more than enough to put me off for life.
Since then, I haven’t even been able to have my rubber duck in the bath with me, because watching it bob up and down makes me feel queazy.
So, like I said, this was not a good idea, but I’ve accepted the challenge and like Captain Cook and Popeye before me, I’m about to brave the ocean.
I’m ready,
I’m calm,
I’m climbing aboard.
and here we go.
.
Wooo, I’m going up.
Weee, I’m going down.
Up, tilt left.
Down, tilt right.
I don’t … like … this … I’m going … to be ……
Splat!
.
Don’t you ever tell me to hire a pedal boat on the beach again.
Tomorrow’s words
Oratory, Orison and Oblation

I loved how you got sick watching the rubber duck bob ! I am scared of drowning and even though I am a proficient swimmer , I literally swim with my heart in my mouth

Oh Keith. I’m an absolute no no for water and boats. Never been on a cruise ship. Even the pool doesn’t lure me at all!

I’ve been on 3 cruise ships – 2 were fine but one was terrrible naupathia hit me in a big way. I think I will avoid cruise ships (at least for now)

It’s not a good time to be on cruise ship that’s for sure!

Oops! I’ve got motion sickness and buses make me feel the same way. Ugh!! I’d rather not go anywhere.
Poor guy, hope he is feeling fine after the adventure.

I’m glad I don’t suffer from bus sickness, I use them all the time! I imagine he’s recovered by now Srivalli.

Am I correct in my assumption after reading your post today that his resident rubber duck has to make do with quick showers these days? Rubber Duck gets bonus points for being green.
He, on the other hand, well, what can I say? Green is not really his colour.

He does and it’s driving him quackers! No, green is not not the most flattering of shades.

That made me laugh. Thanks, Keith. I needed that. Man, I miss paddle boating.

I can’t swim to save my life (know enough swimming to waddle around for a few minutes until someone rescues me) but I have no issues with being on a boat. Catamarans, Jet skis, Motor boats, cruise ships, rowboats… you name it, I love them all. Guess this guy is my complete opposite.

Mine too! Like you I’m a useless swimmer but love bobbing around on it!

Yikes! Poor guy. I don’t envy him. I could picture this story very vividly in my mind. Excellent description! And I managed to guess Naupathia. 😀
