A fistful of words…

for Friday Fictioneers

He was always the same.

“Don’t touch, it’s hot” they’d say, then he’d complain about burning himself.  After being warned not to walk on thin ice, he’d moan about being cold as he clambered from the pond. I once advised him against betting on a horse, though that time he had the last laugh when it won!

“I want ‘I’m a Survivor’ played at my funeral’ he once joked!

So it was no surprise when faced with a daubed message prohibiting trespassers he ignored it. We’d begged him not to.

Yesterday was the first time I’d heard that song at a funeral.

trespass_randy_mazie-1Thanks to Rochelle for hosting and to Randy Mazie for the photo.

Prod the frog (gently) to join in the fun.

I’ve read the quote: “Learn from the mistakes of others. You won’t live long enough to make all of them yourself.” So I will note on my list, Stay out of places where the sign says, “No Trespassing.” 😉

I am slowly understanding how this works, and it sounds great fun 🤭

If any a time to use the expression “he was begging for it” the time is now.

There are those who must experience things for themselves… no matter the cost!
    Great job on Monsieur Frogue!

Pushing the boundaries… for a while at least. Nicely done.

A good story with a touch of dark humor, Keith. Well written. It’s amazing how people take dangerous chances with the only life they have. —– Suzanne

Some people just have to act as a cautionary tale for the rest of us.

I know someone JUST like that (though we’re not at the funeral song … yet …).
Get well wishes to poor Mr. Froggy. …

Some people get a kick out of taking unnecessary risks, including Mr Froggy – not me though! I’ll pass on your get well message.

On one hand, if one’s too timid, one misses out on life. On the other, if one’s too bold, life could be much shorter than it may be otherwise. Well told.

That first example is me. “Careful, it’s hot.” “Ow!” “I told you it was hot.” “I know but… Ow!”

Took a chance, and did it his way. I wonder if his spirit will be trespassing somewhere else.

As they say, it takes all sorts, now if that sign had said Come In,:)

Keith, your character is evidence for the survival of the more cautious. Know a few too many people like this, who are fortunately still around at this point.
    Best wishes,
    Rowena

There has to be a balancing point between cautious (boring) and daring (exciting). Not sure I’ve found it yet though! Thanks, Rowena.

    Dear Keith,

There are some people who don’t listen to anyone. Loved the story and the poor frog. 😀

    Shalom,

Did have secretly have a death wish? Doesn’t seem like much of a survivor to me!
