for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt

 

As I’m not a smoker, this sprinkling of words is about as fictitious as it can get!

 

3sssssssssssssss

 

I lounge before a crackling log fire, in one hand a bulbous glass of fine vintage port, in the other a Montecristo cigar.

I taste cedar wood, wild spices and cherries. Fragrant clouds rise then drift away as the music of Mozart wafts over me. I relish an hour of perfect peace and easeful contentment.

When my idyll draws to a close I sigh, for the end of a good smoke is like losing a friend who took the time to sit and listen.

    Very realistic!
    Shall I make the obvious comment? When someone smokes a cigar, he’s usually left in peace. 😉

    Wonderfully done, Keith. Even non-smokers enjoy an occasional cigar with a lovely port or cognac…

      I did actually light up a cigar hours before the ban on smoking in pubs came into force in the UK. I had my own pub then, and the ban came in at 2 in the morning, so I held a special event for my smoking customers with a mass stubbing out when the moment arrived! I kept the remains of my cigar, varnished it and mounted it on a wooden plinth!

    Not a smoker, either (and not much of a drinker besides), but this paints a picture of ‘ahhhhhhh’ relaxation.
