Friday Fictioneers

ROSEY LARGE BWI found my friend Rosey sitting in her garage looking rather sad. “What’s up?” I asked. She said she’d lost some of her friends. I remembered a quote I saw online.

“In life we never lose friends, we only learn who the true ones are”

She adopted one of her confused expressions; not the ‘totally confused’ one, but the ‘not-entirely-sure-what-you-mean’ version. She shook her head and started burrowing through the rubbish. I ducked as a bucket flew towards me.

“What are looking for?” I asked.

“Friends” she shouted. Now it was my turn to look confused.

“Series three and five of Friends”.

A classic Rosey misunderstanding. To be fair, I did endlessly watch ‘Friends’ and series 3 is a classic 😉

    Dear Keith,

Since I never watched Friends this one sort of sails over my head. There are friends and then there are acquaintances. Sometimes it’s tough to learn the difference. Nicely done.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

My teen is a ‘FRIENDS’ addict though I am not fond of it.

Oh, the ambiguity of the English Language —further muddied by writers and TV producers!
Of course Shakespeare gave us Greek to me and Charles Dickens gave us Scrooge.
Glad to hear you and Rosie finally synced. Wasn’t there a “Neighbours” once, too?

Funny. I love a twist like that at the end.

I admit I watched Friends when it was on… my sister re-watched them all with her daughters… Good one, Keith!

    Has Rosey gone completely mad?

She’s been getting worse by the story – I’ve written 112 about her over the past 9 years!

Ha! There’s friends and then there’s Friends – you can always trust the latter to be there for you (unless you’ve accidentally chucked them in the garage).

I knew I had seen thatquotation somewhere!
I like the idea of multiple expressions of confusion. Cute misdirection at the end.

Cute story, though I will admit I haven’t watched Friends so looks like I am missing something 😁

Rosy is a great character. I really got her straight away. Fun take, Keith. (More of a Frasier girl myself)

I do! Having been writing about her for a decade I sometimes have to remind myself she isn’t real!
