A-Z Challenge preview

Saturday March 31. Post 1640

Throughout April over 600 bloggers are taking part in this years A-Z Challenge. I will be telling you a tale a day about my friend Rosey. Before we get going, let me introduce her to you.

aar

She slithered bum first into an unsuspecting world in 1984, the only child of Anne and Rupert Pinkerton. Growing up in an exclusive area of London, she enjoyed a very privileged lifestyle.

University wasn’t for her, so her parents insisted she got a job. She started as an office filing clerk, but hated it, then shocked her parents by becoming a cashier in a supermarket! It didn’t last. Currently, she’s a teaching assistant in a local primary school.

She shares her beautiful seafront flat with two fluffy balls of white fur and whiskers called Fuzzybutt and Scruff.

She’s slightly green-minded and an occasional vegetarian, and sometimes attends church if she wakes up in time on a Sunday morning.

Everybody adores her, not just because of her scatty ways, but because she has the most generous and caring nature. She sees no bad in anyone which is why we protect her from those who might try to take advantage. She’s never had a long-term relationship but even in her thirties, she’s not keen to settle down.

Rosey has down days, and that’s when she takes solace in Chardonnay. It takes no more than a glug or two to get her giggling again!

What will become of her? I don’t know. We don’t know. She doesn’t know! One thing’s for sure though, whoever comes into contact with her will be blessed by her friendship and that is a gift no amount of money could buy.

This sounds like quite a challenge! Bravo for taking it on, and Rosey already sounds like someone with potential for generating interesting tales.

Are you wanting editorial comments? If so, to me your second sentence, “Growing up in an exclusive area of London, she enjoyed a very privileged upbringing.” sounds like a double dose of same info. If you replace upbringing with lifestyle, it’d give a slightly different angle.

I’d never heard of this Challenge, but have clicked over and read the info. Now I’m thinking of signing up today, too. 🙂

    Hi Keith,
Good to see you’re onboard with the A to Z Challenge. Rosey sounds like a very interesting character. I have a friend I could probably write a bit about to. Indeed, he does get a mention in B for Botticelli, after he described “The Birth of Venus” as “a naked woman standing in a shell” using a rather derogatory tone.
BTW, my theme this year is “Letters to Dead Artists”.
Looking forward to touching base throughout the challenge and finding out more about Rosey.
    xx Rowena

Thank you for explaining the A- Z challenge and for introducing me to Rosie. Sounds a great creative ‘work-out’ – so to speak, keeping you on your writerly toes. Already I feel Rosey is an energetic heroine..
