Post 1638. Wednesday March 21
How nice. ‘High five’ I shout as I slap my palm against the welcome sign. Unfortunately, my gesture is a little overenthusiastic and I send it tumbling over the edge and down into the stream. Sorry, I mutter. I carry on round the bend singing my favourite song.
‘Climb every mountain, ford every…’ (sorry, that ‘s a bit out of tune!)
On I plod. I crane my neck to watch a soaring eagle, or is it a sparrow? Whatever, it’s beautiful. Then I trip.
Oh-oh-woo-woo-ooh-bumpity-bumpity…splash!
There’s that ****** welcome sign again. ‘You could have warned me’ I yell as I refused it another high five.
A little bit of nonsense for this week’s Friday Fictioneers which is once again hosted by Rochelle. This weeks picture is provided by Björn Rudberg
Not the smartest bloke, I take it…

Gave me a chuckle, but I think your fellow shouldn’t be wandering in the mountains alone. If he can’t tell the difference between an eagle and a sparrow, he might easily mistake a curious cougar for a tame tomcat. 😉

I was laughing from beginning to end. What a plonker! I could just see him tramping along happily singing out of tune, probably a couple of tin cans rattling outside his backpack a la Terry Scott in Carry on Camping..

Was it a bird, or some poor guy who toppled over the edge because our hero here had high-fived the sign over the edge? Nice fun here, Keith.

Fun one. Thankfully, the fall wasn’t deadly and he survived.
Now the sign can be restored back to its spot where it can warn others 🙂

I feel bad admitting to laughing at this poor guy’s expense, but it was funny. Reminds me of my character from last week who tried committing suicide in a fairly shallow pond. That had people laughing too. There were also some very witty comments. A great read. Well done.
Best wishes,
Rowena

Rowena, thanks so much for that link. There were several I’d forgotten and a couple I’ve not seen before. Laughing at others misfortune goes way back to Laurel and Hardy and is the basis of slapstick. All together now – hahaha!

Funny … Funny … Funny … I thought of a high five too when I saw the photo. Then, on further viewing I realized it could be there for something else. I so it was. You showed teh danger perfectly. I love that he landed right where the sign did. Gracious, he should have been pleased the sign didn’t carve his head open. Good write …
