I warned him. ‘Call an expert’ I said. But no, Jack insisted on doing it himself.

‘That fits in there’ he said, ‘then this in that, that into this, plug it in, switch it on and……. ‘

The explosion was heard all over town, the wall ended up in the street! We got blown off our feet. Fortunately, we soft-landed on the sofa where we sat, staring in disbelief at the house opposite.

I bought a new electronic thingamajig yesterday. I can’t get it to work. I mentioned in the pub last night. ‘Easy peasey’ said Jack ‘I’ll sort it for you’.

    and thanks for the smile and light feel in this piece.

    also – my favorite line – which comes out as simple – is actually quite masterful – not just with alliteration, but with story details – so much on one dense sentence:

    “soft-landed on the sofa where we sat, staring in disbelief at the house opposite…”

      What I love about Fri Fic is that it disciplines you into saying as much as you can with the fewest number of words. Sometimes it works! Thanks for your words of encouragement Prior.

        yes.. and I would say – in my experience here -(with FRI fiction) most of the times it works -(well for the folks I read…)

    “No thanks.” needed to be the appropriate reply. My husband was once an engineer and would mess with the wiring in our flat while I had terrible visions of the consequences. Our wiring was so messed up once the bedroom lights would go when you pressed the living room switch.Hilarious and good writing, Keith. 😀 — Suzanne
